What is Body Image?
Body image refers to how a person perceives their physical appearance, as well as the thoughts and feelings they have about their body. It includes how people view their size, shape, and weight, as well as specific body features like their face, skin, hair, or muscles.
There are two main aspects of body image:
Positive body image: This is when someone feels satisfied with their appearance and has a realistic and appreciative view of their body.
Negative body image: This is when someone feels dissatisfied or self-conscious about their appearance, often comparing themselves to unrealistic standards.
Body image can be influenced by societal standards, media, family, and friends, and it plays a significant role in mental and emotional well-being, especially during adolescence when many physical changes occur.
